About Us
The Kansas Short Grass Motorcycle Club was founded in 1910 by Dr. Benjamin Patterson of Rexford Kansas. The son of Harvard trained medical doctors, Patterson used a motorcycle to reach his clients in remote locations. At this time roads were nearly non-existent and a motorcycle could more easily traverse such terrain.
The KSGMC achieved international attention through newspapers such as the New York Times and through Dr. Patterson's election in the Federation of American Motorcyclists. Numbering almost 400 riders at it's largest the KSGMC became the premier motorcycle club of its day and conducted tours of several hundreds of miles in a time where roads were scarce and motorcycle suspensions were non-existent.
We continue the tradition started by Dr. Patterson by working to expand the sport of motorcycling for all riders.
